Crochet Diaries: Circles for Summer

I have been extremely productive in the way of crocheting this past week. Two blankets finished! This one is for my younger sister. I have been working on it for almost a year - procrastinating intensely because joining those circles together was a royal pain in my behind. Of course, I took on this project after looking at Pinterest, finding a circle blanket I liked, and thinking "I can do that! No pattern necessary! It can't be that hard."

Wrong.

None of the circles lined up. I had to design these random looking flowers to attach the corners together, and when all was said and done, figuring out how to finish the outside edges was super inconvenient.

After finally working up the nerve to finish tucking in all the ends whilst watching almost an entire season of Gilmore Girls (cause there's nothing like the quick wit of Lorelai Gilmore to motivate one to tuck faster), I have finished it. Yes, it's pretty. It's colourful. It screams summer.

But man, was it ever annoying.

That's what I get for not using a pattern.

I think I am going to use a slightly different version of this blanket for the shop, so stay tuned. If you want to purchase one of these, my shop will be opening soon.

  1. I guess crocheting without a pattern is just like sewing without a pattern, I've thought I could go astray before..terrible idea

    1. Ha! It's so true! Granted, I don't usually crochet with a pattern, but I have definitely become more aware of how valuable it is to recognize stitches and be able to acknowledge when things are a little too difficult for me to tackle, yet. :P
