Thrift Style Thursday: Dainty as a Strawberry (or Voltaire)

I love dainty things. Teacups and saucers, vintage books, old vanity chairs, dresses with strawberries on them - I'll take them all! They remind me of a time long since past: those old English Victorian years with parlour chairs, and tea china, and beautiful leather-bound books. It's like, if you took all those fanciful things you see on Pinterest and stuck them in a time in history, you'd get the Victorians. I love to dream about living during women's suffrage, the invention of the telephone, and old picturesque farms. How lovely it must be!

And then I remember indoor plumbing, electricity, and the internet, and the moment passes.

None of this, of course, has a darned thing to do with this outfit. I have no idea if the Victorians ate strawberries, or wore dresses with strawberries printed on them. They might have had some chairs like this, but probably not. What they probably did have, however, was a leather-bound copy of Voltaire just hanging around. This particular copy was printed and bound in 1927 and, other than that $3.00 Salvation Army strawberry dress, it might be the daintiest thing I own.

Books, especially ones such as these, never go out of style.
