Bobbin' Around

Well, I did it. After years of admiring all the trendy bobs on the likes of Kiera Knightly, Emma Stone, and Cameron Diaz, I finally developed the gumption to have the hair-dresser full-on chop my hair.

Admittedly, the last time I went in, this is secretly what I wanted. But, like every girl who is about to chop her long locks off for the first time, I was scared. And I knew a certain man in my life wouldn't take it too well if I went short on the first go. So that became the trial run, acting as the way to ease everyone into what I really wanted.

The bob.

And you know what, it's sassy and fun and professional. It isn't the Victoria Beckham mom bob, and it isn't the Julie Bowen mom bob. It's perfect for me.

So I think I am going to try it out for a while.

Closures and Coats

Well. Here we are. It's December. I've neglected my blog for yet another month.

It isn't for lack of inspiration, though. I had grand plans to participate in the scarves, coats, and boots #thriftstylethursday posts of the past month. But a few things happened that made posting a last priority:

1) Snow that turned into slush that turned into rain that turned into ice. I love the snow. I love the sleet. I don't like taking pictures in it.

2) Work got really busy - and that's awesome! But it meant that my thursdays became extremely lazy.

3) My sister and I bought my mom a puppy for her birthday. It's hard to find the time to update when the puppy is JUST SO DARN CUTE! If you follow my instagram, you've seen pictures of Pippa galore. She's adorbs. So adorbs that I had to use shortened words just to prove how truly adorbs she is.

Moving on.

I found out recently that my favourite store on the planet, Smart Set, is going to be closing down by the end of 2015. Owned by the Reitmans corp, it's part of the same Canadian fashion chain that also supports RW&Co and Penningtons. It stands alone from the beautiful, albeit short hemlines of Dynamite and H&M, and its a classy look without having to fork away one's dollars to Zara, Banana Republic, or Le Chateau (which are all beautiful stores, but pricey).

When I don't thrift, Smart Set is my go-to place for professional fashion. I love it. And I am so sad to see it go. It's the second major Canadian clothing retailer to disappear from the fashion landscape in the last two years (the Montreal based Jacob franchises being the other), and I am sure it won't be the last.

It's just so hard to find affordable class.

That being said, this AMAZING Aztec patterned coat is from Suzy Shier, another fan favourite of mine. I saw it and I had to have it.
