The Wellness Journey: My Favourite Smoothie Recipe

I don't know about any of you, but I am a huge sucker for smoothies in the morning. It's the easiest way to get my morning boost of fruit, I can stock them full of other good-for-me things (flax seed, spinach), and they are the best way to curb my morning caffeine cravings.

No word of a lie, I did not have a morning cup of coffee today - nor have I been craving one.

Here's the recipe for my morning 'go to' smoothie. The full recipe makes 2-3 servings. If you want only one, cut the recipe in half, with the exception of the banana. You always want a full banana.

Perhaps before a good recipe, though, the single most important item to smoothie making is your blender. The blender that is featured is a Black and Decker blender which retails for $100. I purchased it for $1. Well, sort of. The blender was 50% off after Christmas, and I had $60.00 in gift cards. After taxes, I was $1.02 short, and since pennies are now obsolete in Canada, the blender cost me $1. I'd say that's a success.

I love this blender, too. It's very efficient, very powerful, and also very quiet (compared to other blenders I've used). Invest in a blender you love if you don't have one. KitchenAid makes some quality stand appliances and Nick is a big fan of the Magic Bullet. Everyone's tastes are a little different.

Now, just to tease your palate, I've included some photos of the blending process to encourage you.

Aaaand, ENJOY!

How is your 2015 Wellness Journey coming? Do you have any smoothie recipes you'd like to share?  Let me know! I am always willing to try something new.
